🔬 Groundbreaking Research & Future Treatments

We are honoured to hear from Muhammed B. Sabdia, a Mater Research PhD scholar and recipient of the prestigious 2024 Gunn Family Haematology Fellowship.

His world-first research is focused on developing personalised mRNA vaccines for AL amyloidosis—an innovative approach that:

  • Harnesses a patient’s own immune system
  • Targets disease-causing plasma cells with precision
  • Aims to prevent irreversible organ damage
  • Moves toward long-term remission and improved survival

This work is being conducted in collaboration with leading experts including Peter Mollee and Seth Cheetham, placing Australia at the forefront of global amyloidosis research.

We are also privileged to hear from Pat Neely AM, a founding member of AAN and a tireless advocate for over 20 years.

Honoured as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), Pat has dedicated her life to improving outcomes for people living with amyloidosis.

Her session will highlight:

  • The launch of the AAN Telephone Support Service
  • The development of the new AAN online Support Page, providing accessible guidance and resources for patients and carers
  • The importance of connection, trusted information, and emotional support
  • Her decades of advocacy and systemic impact in the health sector
