Pfizer funding to increase awareness about cardiac amyloidosis

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the Australian Amyloidosis Network are partnering on a project to increase  awareness about an uncommon cause of a ‘stiff’ heart:  Cardiac amyloidosis.

  1. Objective and Goals:
    1. Raise awareness about cardiac amyloidosis among patients with heart failure and patients who are being evaluated for amyloidosis.
    2. Educate patients on the pathophysiology and new treatments available for cardiac amyloidosis in Australia.
    3. Answer common questions about amyloidosis – including its diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
    4. Provide a link to accurate and informative  patient resources
  1. Target Audience:
    1. Direct to patient videos: including patients with a diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis, or patients who are being evaluated for this condition.
    2. Videos will use plain and easily understandable language, which are understood by patients and their families.
  1. Content Outline:
    1. Standard video (3-4 minutes) topics will include:
      1. What is cardiac amyloidosis?
      2. How is cardiac amyloidosis diagnosed?
      3. How is amyloidosis treated?
    2. Short form (60s less) topics will include; the top five patient questions about amyloidosis, such as…
      1. How will we know if the treatment is working?
      2. Is cardiac amyloidosis hereditary? Should my family members be screened?
      3. What are the potential complications of cardiac amyloidosis?
      4. Are there any clinical trials or new treatments I can consider?
      5. Are there any lifestyle changes or precautions I should take?
  1. Format and Style:
    1. We aim to produce a total of 8 conversational interview based videos, including:
      1. 3 x Youtube videos – 3-4 minutes in length
      2. 5 x Short form videos– i.e. 60 seconds or less
  1. Production Plan:
    1. Scripting
    2. Script editing/feedback – will be sort from patient groups.
    3. Filming / editing / post production
  1. Distribution Strategy:
    1. Videos will be produced in collaboration with the AAN
    2. Videos will be distributed through their website + social media platforms + associated patient groups.
