Pfizer funding to increase awareness about cardiac amyloidosis
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the Australian Amyloidosis Network are partnering on a project to increase awareness about an uncommon cause of a ‘stiff’ heart: Cardiac amyloidosis.
- Objective and Goals:
- Raise awareness about cardiac amyloidosis among patients with heart failure and patients who are being evaluated for amyloidosis.
- Educate patients on the pathophysiology and new treatments available for cardiac amyloidosis in Australia.
- Answer common questions about amyloidosis – including its diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
- Provide a link to accurate and informative patient resources
- Target Audience:
- Direct to patient videos: including patients with a diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis, or patients who are being evaluated for this condition.
- Videos will use plain and easily understandable language, which are understood by patients and their families.
- Content Outline:
- Standard video (3-4 minutes) topics will include:
- What is cardiac amyloidosis?
- How is cardiac amyloidosis diagnosed?
- How is amyloidosis treated?
- Short form (60s less) topics will include; the top five patient questions about amyloidosis, such as…
- How will we know if the treatment is working?
- Is cardiac amyloidosis hereditary? Should my family members be screened?
- What are the potential complications of cardiac amyloidosis?
- Are there any clinical trials or new treatments I can consider?
- Are there any lifestyle changes or precautions I should take?
- Standard video (3-4 minutes) topics will include:
- Format and Style:
- We aim to produce a total of 8 conversational interview based videos, including:
- 3 x Youtube videos – 3-4 minutes in length
- 5 x Short form videos– i.e. 60 seconds or less
